Dr Abeba Birhane is an Ethiopian computer scientist. She is a Senior Fellow in Trustworthy AI at Mozilla Foundation and an Adjunct Lecturer/Assistant Professor at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. She contributed to uncovering that large-scale image datasets, commonly used to develop AI systems, carried racist and misogynistic labels and offensive images.
