Our research paper is published!

We have a paper out today on "Invisible women: Gender representation in high school science courses across Australia", published in the Australian Journal of Education. We started the work for this publication back in 2020. We analysed the Year 11/12 courses for Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Environmental Science across Australia.

So what did we find?

Of the 145 uniquely mentioned scientists, only one was female, Rosalind Franklin, and only in the QLD, SA & NT courses. We also did a breakdown of which mentions are related to the scientist compared (scientist mentions) to how many were mentions due to a law or idea being named after them (concept mentions). Courses had up to 37% (e.g. NSW) of 'scientist mentions' but no women mentioned!
